Pacific delivers a show-stopping LED reception display and digital signage solution for the University of Bedfordshire’s new library
Working alongside PSCo and the University of Bedfordshire, Pacific supplied and installed a seamless LED display and digital signage solution to create an engaging information hub within the University’s new library.
The University of Bedfordshire created a tender for the supply of audio visual and digital signage for their new library building. The project included a requirement for a show-stopping display for the reception area, which would be used as an information platform to display key university statistics and opening times.
Following a thorough tender process, Pacific were awarded the project and began working with the University of Bedfordshire to deliver against the requirements.
The Solution
Pacific and the University of Bedfordshire reviewed numerous technologies for the reception display, working alongside the specified Onelan digital signage system.
After attending Pacific's annual Technology Event and seeing Absen's narrow pixel pitch LED display demonstrated by PSCo, the University decided this technology was the ideal fit for the project. The seamless display ensured content would not be disrupted, while its high brightness allowed information to remain clearly visible even within the reception area's high ambient light environment.
Following a visit to the PSCo Assessment Centre, the Absen N4 4mm LED display was selected. The finished display comprised 18 panels in a 6 x 3 configuration, creating an impressive 6.91 x 0.86m feature display.

How We Did It
To ensure the most suitable solution was selected, Pacific arranged for the University to visit the PSCo Assessment Centre, where different pixel pitches, display performance, content and mounting options could be evaluated.
PSCo worked with Boldman to develop a bespoke mounting solution that attached the display to the existing reception structure while meeting all structural safety requirements. A mesh rear enclosure was incorporated to protect the display while maintaining the ventilation required for reliable operation.
The project was successfully installed with support from PSCo’s Technical Assistance team, ensuring the Absen N4 LED display was fully commissioned in time for the opening of the new library.
Results
The completed installation provides the University of Bedfordshire with a striking reception display that acts as an engaging information platform for students and visitors. The seamless LED display delivers clear, high-impact content in a bright reception environment, successfully meeting the University’s original vision for the new library space.
