University of Portsmouth enhances teaching and collaboration with a flexible Business Simulation Suite
Pacific designed and delivered an innovative AV solution that supports business simulations, wireless collaboration and instant content playback, creating a flexible teaching and learning environment.
The University of Portsmouth contacted Pacific to provide a solution that would enhance the teaching and learning experience within their new Business Simulation Suite.
A critical element of the project was to ensure that the installed audio-visual technology did not interfere with the intended purpose of the suite, which was to simulate a real-life business environment, while also providing the ability to record everything that happened in the suite and make that content instantly available for playback.
The Solution
The solution was designed to allow recordings to be played back throughout the suite as needed, enabling group or individual discussion around a range of business practices and activities.
The suite was also designed to subdivide into core areas, allowing students to be split into groups to undertake set tasks. Pacific enhanced the original concept by designing the location of display devices to ensure sight lines were preserved, meaning students could clearly see displayed content from anywhere within the suite.

How We Did It
Pacific’s design team created a space with completely wireless technology access, allowing teaching staff and students to share and collaborate on material from any point in the suite to any display device.
The suite was delivered on time and within budget following a rapid build programme. The physical installation was completed quickly and efficiently, with additional changes to the control system interface implemented promptly to ensure the finished solution fully met the University’s requirements.
Results
The completed Business Simulation Suite provides the University of Portsmouth with a fully functional and flexible teaching and learning environment that supports collaborative working, business simulations and instant content playback.
