Pacific brings Wellington Country Park’s dinosaur trail to life with an immersive outdoor audio experience
Using discreet outdoor audio technology and intelligent control systems, Pacific enhanced the visitor experience by creating an atmospheric prehistoric environment through sound.
Wellington Country Park, a visitor attraction in Hampshire, wanted to bring their popular dinosaur trail to life with the sounds of the prehistoric forest, and approached Pacific to provide the technical know-how to deliver their vision.
The Solution
Pacific installed camouflaged outdoor speakers around the trail, burying the outdoor-safe cables beneath the paths, and creating a number of overlapping audio zones using a single cable route, all controlled using a multi-channel QSC Core.
Triggered by visitors tripping infrared switches, the atmosphere of the trail is enhanced with background audio and ever-changing and moving dinosaur calls and movement.

How We Did It
Pacific designed and installed a reliable audio system that blended seamlessly into the surrounding environment. By using discreet outdoor speakers, hidden cabling and multiple audio zones, we created an immersive experience without impacting the appearance of the trail.
The system is triggered by visitors using infrared switches, creating changing dinosaur sounds and movement throughout the journey. Controlled through a multi-channel QSC Core, the solution requires no user intervention and is timed to cut off outside of opening hours throughout the year.
Results
The completed installation has transformed Wellington Country Park’s dinosaur trail by adding an immersive layer of sound that brings the prehistoric environment to life for visitors.
Pacific delivered a reliable and engaging solution that enhances the outdoor experience while remaining sympathetic to the natural surroundings. We look forward to continuing to work with Wellington Country Park as they explore new ways to use technology to enhance their visitor attractions.
