Celebrating 50 Years of Microsoft

On the 4th of April, Microsoft celebrated their 50th anniversary with a look back on their history, from humble beginnings in 1975, to a pioneering force for development and change that saw the company move from success to success throughout the 80s, 90s and 2000s. Over the past 50 years, Microsoft has become a titan in the IT industry, branching out into computer accessories, videogame consoles, mobile phones, tablets, and more.

Microsoft took the opportunity to celebrate at their latest Copilot event, which focused primarily on their recent advancements in AI, as they attempt to keep up with the competition from Chat-GPT and Gemini. At Pacific we always keep an eye on the advancements being made in AI, but we’re most interested in the Microsoft software and hardware that allow us to provide a second-to-none customer experience. Of course, notable products that we sell regularly include the Surface Hub range of interactive whiteboards, Surface laptops, Microsoft 365 subscriptions, and many more. In line with the rise of Microsoft Teams over the last few years, Microsoft has been an instrumental part of the majority of meeting rooms we have provided to our customers. Not to mention, Windows 11 Business and the Microsoft 365 Copilot product family are used every day in our office to keep the business running smoothly.

With Pacific approaching our 30th anniversary in 2026, the timing of Microsoft’s milestone is fortuitous, as we are provided with the opportunity to reflect on how the industry has evolved over the last few decades and think about our next 30 years and where we would like to be in three decades. As Microsoft look to the future, hoping to continue to “empower people through technology,” making developments in AI and security, we plan to continue our push for customer service excellence, and maintain our mission to become the first port of call for all of our customers’ AV and IT requirements. We’re excited to see how the industry develops and hope to grow and learn as it does so.

We want to wish a huge congratulations to Microsoft on such a huge milestone. 50 years is no small feat, and the success that they have achieved in that time is incredible. As for Pacific, our big birthday celebrations start next year! In the meantime, remember to keep Pacific in mind when considering Microsoft products (or any other AV/IT requirements) for your business.
