CASE STUDY

Department for Transport Select Pacific for Meeting Room Technology

The Department for Transport (DfT) were going through a major Video Conference programme in their head office in London and needed to bring the many related offices around the UK to the same specification. To rectify this, DfT chose to tender for Audio Visual refurbishment via the Crown Commercial Service Technology Products and Services framework (RM6068).

As one of the suppliers on Lot 2 of the framework, Pacific was awarded the contract in 2020 after an extensive review, ensuring we identified cost savings, and that all sites will be flexible, easy to use, and work in harmony with DfT’s existing systems.

DfT had a requirement to update all of their meeting rooms to use Crestron Teams devices, including the UC160 for the large rooms and the UC140 for the smaller rooms. DfT also required supply of screens, and that the solution be fully flexible and mobile.

To negate the need to wall mount the meeting room systems Pacific sourced a suitable mobile mounting solution that was able to bear the weight of the screens and Crestron hardware.

The Crestron UC140 was installed on the rear of the mobile mount and the sound bar mounted on the VC shelf. With this neat solution, the equipment could then easily be moved between meeting rooms if needed, requiring only power and data in its new location. All hardware was supplied and installed by Pacific.

Cost savings were achieved by making all the meeting rooms flexible and mobile, as there was no longer a need to install hardware in all areas. Key to the project was achieving the customer’s timeline and budget, to ensure the site was operational within 3 weeks. Find out more about this solution by “contacting us”
